Online Master of Science in Health Communication
This online Master's degree in Communication with a specialization in Health Communication targets health care and public health professionals who seek an advanced degree to enhance their career, graduates from social science programs who wish to specialize in health communication, and individuals who want the master's degree as a step toward applying to a doctoral program.
Students can study the relationship between communication and health in interpersonal (e.g., family communication and health, doctor-patient communication, social networks and social support), organizational (e.g., communication about health care reform, health delivery systems and communication patterns, health care teams and decision making), and mediated contexts (e.g., health persuasion and campaigns, the influence of media on health attitudes and behaviors, health informatics).
Online Master of Science in Teaching of Biological Sciences and General Sciences
The online Master of Science in the Teaching of Biological Sciences and General Sciences (M.S.T.) degree program is designed for graduate students in a biological discipline who wish to earn teacher certification while completing the MST Degree in Biology. Individuals who are already certified to teach biology in Illinois public schools may enter the program to earn the MST degree while taking graduate courses in both biology and education.
Online Bachelor's Degree in Earth, Society and Environmental Sustainability
Beginning in Fall of 2012, we're proud to announce that our Bachelor's degree in Earth, Society and Environmental Sustainability will be available online. Our future depends on understanding the interactions between the environment, society, and economy - gain expertise with an ESE degree, which can now be completed entirely remotely for students with some prior college-level coursework. ESE students can specialize in environmental informatics, sustainable business, sustainability policy, and more. Students wishing to undertake the program must apply to the University of Illinois as transfer students. All prior credit earned through the ENSU certificate can be applied to the ESE BS degree if you transfer to the program.
Students with an associate's or equivalent may complete this degree in as few as 60 credit hours.
Program begins August 2012. Interested participants are encouraged to apply as transfer students by March 1, 2012.
Online Certificate in Environmental Sustainability
This certificate addresses the growing demand for courses that concentrate on the key issues associated with sustainability and the environment. Students in the Environmental Sustainability certificate program will learn about the interconnectedness of environmental, economic, and social systems of the world; the implications of our actions on the environment; factors that determine the sustainability of human institutions, organizations, cultures, and technologies; finding solutions through innovative approaches; and expanding future options by practicing environmental stewardship. Following the classical definition of sustainability, the aim is to develop citizens, businesses, and societies that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same.
Students may enroll in Environmental Sustainability courses without being admitted to a degree program
